Reading really is such a vital life skill. At Beechcroft our aim is for ALL children to read a minimum of 10 minutes a day 5 times a week at home. For year 6 pupils at least one of those sessions should be with an adult. Over the last year, the school has purchased new reading materials to engage and inspire the children.

So far this year our focus for home learning has been on ensuring that every child is completing their home reading. I’d now like to remind you about our school Times Tables Rock Stars subscription. Just a short session a few times a week can make all the difference in the world to your child acquiring and retaining times table facts. These facts form the basis of so many elements of our mathematics curriculum that, when recall is lacking or slow it, can really hinder your child’s progress. I will be logging in regularly to see your child’s activity on TT Rock Stars in addition to our ongoing revision of times tables in school.
