We LOVE reading

At Beechcroft we believe sharing a story is a magical experience. Every Tuesday our wonderful Year 6 pupils share a story during the lunch hour whilst on Thursdays staff members take it in turns to share some of their favourites.

World Book Day was celebrated this year on Tuesday 3rd March at Beechcroft. Our theme for the day linked with our current focus on personal, social and emotional education - stories with a moral.

The day launched with an assembly celebrating the wealth of book-inspired costumes on show. Various book-themed activities were enjoyed throughout the day including 'Share a Story' time with parents and carers at the end of the day.

Finally, we held a 'Great Booky Bake Sale' to raise money for the Book Aid charity - providing books to those who are not fortunate enough to have the easy access to books which we do. We raised just over £30.

During the month of World Book Day the staff and pupils of Beechcroft took up the 'Share a Million Stories' challenge. We set ourselves a goal of 10,000 stories shared. Unfortunately, owing to COVID 19 we had to end our challenge slightly early. Nevertheless, we are very proud of our final total - 7090!
