Timing of the School Day

Timings of the School Day

The school day starts promptly at 8:40am, with the gates open from 8:30am, the gates will be shut at 8:45am when all children are in class and the school day ends at 3:10 pm.

Children who are not collected promptly may be placed into our after-school club, Cheeky Monkeys, at a charge.

Should arrangements change for the collection of your child/children, please let the class teacher know via Class Dojo, or get in touch with the school office, who will pass on a message.

This allows us to be comfortable and confident that at the end of the school day we are allowing our children home with the adults they are meant to be with.

Reception's school day

The reception children initially have a slightly less structured day than those children in years 1 and 2. They have opportunities to learn through play and carefully planned continuous provision that supports the foundation stage curriculum. They will take part in short daily phonics and maths sessions as they settle into reception and will begin to join years 1 and 2 for breaktime when they are used to school routine. At lunchtime, they will eat in the hall with years 1 and 2 before having time on the main playground.

Year 1 and Year 2's school day

The timetable below is an example of a typical day in Key Stage 1. Each week, the children will take part daily phonics, writing and maths lessons, have two PE lessons per week and enjoy a wide range of curriculum subjects. Please see our curriculum pages for more information.

They will have a breaktime separate to KS2 and at lunchtime, will eat in the hall with reception before having time on the main playground.

For children in year 5 and year 6, parents may choose to allow their child to walk or cycle to and from school on their own. If this is the case, parents must inform the school of this decision in writing.
